Commercial Cleaning Equipment: Match the Machine to the Job

Start with what needs to be removed or maintained, then compare the machine’s working width, power source, access needs and delivery requirements. These are the main equipment types currently represented in CleanGearHQ’s commercial cleaning catalog.

Wet soil on hard floors: floor scrubbers

A floor scrubber applies cleaning solution, agitates the floor with a brush or pad, and recovers dirty liquid. For example, the Aztec ProScrub 20-inch walk-behind scrubber lists a 20-inch cleaning path, 12-gallon solution tank, 15-gallon recovery tank and approximately three hours of AGM-battery runtime. Check aisle width, floor compatibility, tank access and charging space before choosing a model. Read the floor scrubber buying guide or shop floor scrubbers.

Loose dry debris: floor sweepers

A sweeper collects dust, dirt and light litter before or instead of wet cleaning. The SUNMAX RT980S is a push-powered walk-behind sweeper with a listed 38-inch sweeping width and 12.7-gallon waste container. It is a different tool from a wet scrubber: choose based on the soil you need to remove. Compare scrubbers and sweepers or browse floor sweepers.

High-gloss floor-finish maintenance: burnishers

Burnishers maintain an appropriate floor finish; they do not replace the wet cleaning step of a scrubber. The battery-powered Aztec LowRider Sapphire 21-inch and 27-inch models offer different pad widths and listed runtimes. Confirm the floor finish and pad are compatible, and plan charging for the route. Compare the battery burnishers.

Outdoor flatwork and detailed spray cleaning: pressure washers

Makinex dual-pressure machines combine a rotary surface cleaner with a wand. The current DPC 2200, DPW 2500 and DPW 4000 listings span 18-, 21- and 24-inch surface-cleaner widths. Compare pressure range, water flow, hose length, weight and the surfaces you will clean. Gasoline-powered models require outdoor operation with proper ventilation. Read the Makinex comparison or shop pressure washers.

Before ordering

  • Measure the area, narrowest doorway and available storage space.
  • Identify the floor or exterior surface and the type of soil.
  • Check power, charging, water supply and ventilation requirements.
  • For freight deliveries, review access, loading dock and liftgate needs in the shipping policy.
  • Confirm current availability and the right accessories before placing a high-value order.
